Frankfurt haiku

The west wind blows hard

the sun slips behind the clouds

jasmine in the air

Under the flight path

sunlight filters through the trees

birds sing, undeterred

Heads of hydrangea

replace honeysuckle’s scent:

summer shedding spring

Layers of history

unravel and coalesce

and still the sun sets
